Finally, I’m done with some speed fixes and other minor bugs including some of your requests and the 3rd version of the Jello.Dashboard is almost ready.
It’s a beta for two reasons. The first one is that I wasn’t able to fully grant your wishes (some of them still not possible to do) and the second one is that it will need some testing due to some querying technology changes for speed. So please report any bug you may find.
Documentation is still incomplete, but all new setting descriptions have been updated.
I also re-packed an hta (web application) standalone version.

he drugbar,
is there anywhere a chance to easy change a task into a project or is that irrelevant to gtd – i`m really a newbee?!!

@Hannes
So far there is no direct way to do that. If you think it would be useful I could add easily a function to do that.
But it’s really already easy to create a project. Even by pressing the p key!

I mean, if you have noted a task or next action and you realize that there are some more steps than one to finish the task it changes to a project, isn’t it.
But I told you I’m very new to gtd listening to allens audio-book while jogging…

and what about providing an extra c-key for copying tasks directly into the outlook-calendar if it isn’t possible to have it automatically if simply checked a task with a special date.
My third question of the day is due to that I’m not that warm with gtd, why are contexts not embedded into the next actions folder. I have followed your tip to use beyond contacts on my palm and it’s messing up with lots of contexts. Also if there’s one action labeled with next actions and a certain context there is a new context mixed from both labels – “next actions, @work” – stupid isn’t it. Imagine the great chaos of context-names on my palm after getting into big business with gtd some day.

Something goes wrong with the calendar section of the dashboard(day, week, month, agenda). None of my appointments visible there. Maybe the reason is that I have 2 different calendars in Outlook (one from sharepoint folder, and the default outlook calendar from .pst). Could you check this out?

@ Hannes
I don’t know about that. It’s easy to do, but it’s also easy to create a project from a scratch and remove the task. And it’s also easy to just get inside a task to add a due date.
I will think about your suggestions though.
Oh, and about the beyond contacts and palm devices, I’m not an expert but I think there isn’t much I can do with the categorizing of the tasks. The comma notation is an Outlook standard.
@Dimitri
What goes wrong is that the dashboard looks for events ONLY into your default calendar. Sorry! That’s a limitation of speed. Try to synchronize the two folders to have results.

>>>And it’s also easy to just get inside a task to add a due date.
- I don’t mean a task added a due date to, but the suggestion with the copying to the folder calendar is the only way(not provided by outlook) to see tasks as an daily event in the outlook calendar. I don’t mean the calendar of YD.
There are 2 applications out there (one is TaskToCal) that automate this process (every task is automatically copied as an appointment).
For a good overview it’s easier for me to see everything integrated in the outlook calendar than have the tasks at one and appointments at another location.

@Hannes
Copying a task as a calendar item? Sounds good and easy, you got it!
I wrote it down so it will soon be available.
thanks for the suggestion!

Hi – i work with GTD in Outlook using tasks and folders to sort the tasks. Now i want to try the jello.dashboard (OL 2007 lokal, jello.dashboard 3.25, vista german, using german lang-file).
My problem was discussed earlier in this blog as i already read – but there were no solution so i give it another try here again:
I have got
- 106 Projects
- 14 contexts
created in jello.dashboard
now I want to create a context called “[@Brainstorm]”
After that i get the information when reloading the dashboard:
“Some new settings must be added to your system ”
Using the “Add Settings” button empties both Project-List and context and i have to begin from the start (… or have to import my previous saved settings, with is really embarrising)
I changed after that the code of “main.js” so that after creating a context or project a backup of the settings ist done automatically.
This works – somestimes : as there is an empty backup file after creating “[@brainstorm]”
I did a lot of tries with GTD and Outlook befor, so it is possible, that there are “artefacs” in the task-categories. My this be a problem???
Please help me – and excuse my no perfect english
– i hope you understand what i mean!
