  • For tasks, a show-all with a scroll bar is must have. I need to be able to scroll down my list without having to page to page. This would also fulfill my other requirement to be able to print my tasks with having to go to each page individually.

    Thanks,
    Jason

  • Great work. Downloaded 3 other outlook task managers and in the end couldn’t go past jello. I expected to always use it within Outlook, but (surpisingly) I am using the HTA window more an more for tasks and leaving OL for emails. Many other programs have struggled with OL syncronisation, using OL with such a clean interface is very smart!!

  • [sorry - i wrote this in the wrong section - jello dashboard 3 beta) - so here is it again:

    Hi - i worked with GTD in Outlook using tasks and folders to sort the tasks. Now i want to try the jello.dashboard (OL 2007 lokal, jello.dashboard 3.25, vista german, using german lang-file).

    My problem was discussed earlier in this blog as i already read - but there were no solution so i give it another try here again:

    I have got
    - 106 Projects
    - 14 contexts
    created in jello.dashboard

    now I want to create a context called “[@Brainstorm]”

    After that i get the information when reloading the dashboard:

    “Some new settings must be added to your system ”

    Using the “Add Settings” button empties both Project-List and context and i have to begin from the start (… or have to import my previous saved settings, with is really embarrising)

    I changed after that the code of “main.js” like that after creating a context or project a backup of the settings is done automatically.

    This works – somestimes : as there is an empty backup file after creating “[@brainstorm]”

    I did a lot of tries with GTD and Outlook before, huuu is it possible, that there are “artefacts” in the task-categories. May this be a problem???

    Please help me – and excuse my no perfect english ;-) – i hope you understand what i mean!

  • … it seems, that there is a problem if the number of the character in the “o1″-string is near 256.

    I dont know much about java – but may this be the problem and: is there a solution?

  • @Tobi: In the About documentation for Contexts, it mentions not using these characters ( : & , ^ ~ \ | / [ ] ; ‘ ), otherwise they will create errors. I’ll bet if you change that last Context that you created, you’ll be okay.

    Good luck!

  • This is a great product!
    How can I create a @Waiting For folder on my Jello home page? I would also like to have Outlook automatically add the @Waiting For context to each email I send, so that I can keep track of who has responded to my emails and who I need to check on.
    Thanks,
    Josh

  • I figured it out! Amazing what can be accomplished after you read the documentation! ;-)

  • Is there a way to create sub projects ? For example if I had a project called Build House, could I make a sub project Appliances ? If not, how do you all deal with a situation like this.

    Thanks.

  • Its not clear on the website, does Jello support outlook 2007? If so does its support all the features of 2007?

  • I’m running the Business Contact Manager add-in for Outlook. Will Dashboard work with this?

  • @Chris
    Yes, it works with OL 2007.
    As Jello.Dashboard uses tasks, categories and journal entries to manage projects and (next) actions and only changes the default OL “homepage” you can use any features of Outlook 2007 as you are used to.

    Just try it – you can uninstall Jello.Dashboard with just one click!

    @mprasek – i don’t know Business Contact manager, but i think the above answer for chris is valid for you too.

  • Your tool rocks!!!

  • in furter development, please figure out, whether to implement on top of the master list a next-actions-area. would bie really helpful to have the whole overview.

    Your´s Hannes

  • What is happening with the Jello lately? Nothing new here for a while. What happened to Dr. U?

    Just wondering

  • I’m using Jello with 2007. I was using some advice on implementing GTD I found in the net, then I found Jello (I used to use the GTD plugin for outlook but since I upgraded Outlook can make it work), I use contacts as projects, so far I just import the contacts/project folder using the import feature in Jello, there’s a way of doing this automatically?

  • I think that not being able to sort the Project View items by due date renders Jello.Dashboard problematic.

    I often want to view or print a list of project items and it won’t sort in any meaningful way. Its too bad, as Dashboard is otherwise a very powerful way to use Outlook. I will revisit Dashboard if that ever gets fixed.

    Thanks.

  • I love your tool – only one issue:
    I can’t select any messages in the Inbox view such that the Actions combo box recognizes them. I select a message, then choose “Make Task from Item”, and an error message comes up that says “No Items were selected to perform the selected action!” Possibly related: nothing changes when I select various options from the Views dropdown in the Inbox.

  • Just to spark your interest/give you ideas. Have you thought about writing some add-ins for Outlook to provide even more GTD things? :)

    Just written a small example at http://blog.cumps.be/writing-an-outlook-add-in/ to show it’s ease.

    Might be a valuable addition, some day.

  • Hi,
    I just downloaded the installer and tried installing the dashboard and set it as home page for a pst folder.
    The dashboard still shows up as Jello dashboard 2.55 in outlook folder homepage. Is that deliberate or am I installing the wrong version?
    Thanks,
    Raghu

  • Hi,

    I’m going to use this to knock the socks off our Instructional & Student Services division. I’ll organize those people if it’s the last thing I do!

  • First of all I apologize for the soo late responses. I will try to catch up from now on.

    @Jason
    This is a very good idea. I’ve added it to my feature list! Thanks.

    @Shinyplastic
    Thank you. Glad you found it useful!

    @Tobi
    Normally the [] characters do not cause problems, but wait for the new beta cause I’ve totally changed the way settings are handled, and this was purely a settings problem!
    I totally understood, do not worry cause my English aren’t that good too.
    Thank you!

    @Tobi
    The solution is into the new beta to be released soon and yes I think there was a problem with that. Thanks for bringing that up!

    @Josh Fialkoff
    Just create a @Waiting context.
    I could add the @waiting only for mails you create from inside jello unfortunately and maybe it’s a good idea.

    @Mike
    No, there is no way of creating subprojects. GTD does not encourage this and I think it will be really messy to implement. The way to do that depends on your personal taste!

    @Chris
    Yes it supports Outlook 2007 but not all of its features yet.

    @mprasek
    I think it will. Jello does not make any changes into Outlook at all.

    @Ken Chen
    Thanks !

    @Hannes
    Yes that would be cool. What a nice idea! Thank you.

    @Jared
    Thanks for the interest! And now I have to respond to so many comments!

    @Ken Chen
    Automatically using the contacts as projects? No.

    @Jim M.
    I think I’ve just fixed that. Wait for the new beta to try it out.

    @ilan
    This is an old issue and the bad news is, I cannot reproduce it! I do not know why this is happening. Can you change views before the error pops out?

    @David Cumps
    Yes I did, but I really do not have the time for now to do that on my own. Someday/maybe. Thanks.

    @Raghu R
    You have the right version. This is just the old name property of your settings. If you go to the About section you will see the version number.

    @Jeff (no, the other one)
    Glad to hear that and I hope you will!

  • Hi! Just to let you know I really like your tool!!

    I am trying to re-implement Jello in GWT (Java) – hope that’s not a problem?

    thanx
    rajeevk

  • @rajeevk
    Of course you can do that. I wonder how it will be!

  • Hi,
    I just installed the latest version of the Jello. I already have a number (well dozens and dozens really…). Can I assign existing tasks to a Jello project? If so, how?
    Thanks,
    Josh

  • @John Fialkoff
    Yes, you can do that! Just categorize your existing tasks (manually) to the name of the jello project.

  • I tried to do that, but I do not see the field with the Jello project name when I open up the task. Is there a way to do this from the Jello main page?

  • ~ Superb job!

    Superb job!"I have been on my GTD journey for about 2 years now and I've being trying so many different approaches, some with Outlook add-ins, hand-carved customisation in Outlook, standalone programs, iPad and Mac apps. Nothing ever quite fitted my method of working (supporting IT for many different customers with lots of projects). For a couple of days now I have been transforming my system over to the Jello approach and liking almost all I've found so far. It just fits the way I want to work. You have covered so many features and ideas that have been missing from other"
