Evernote is a popular and complete note/file management application. It’s been around for a few years and it still keeps getting better.
The main task of Evernote is to manage your notes or any type of file. You can organize them using notebooks and tags, from the standard web application or the desktop and mobile applications, available for many Operating systems.

Evernote has the ability to import your existing notes, just send them to your special email account and organize later. The notes can have rich text format, and you can attach other types of files, like images and PDF files with a free account, and any type of file using a premium one.
Using Evernote from a mobile device, (there is an application for almost every mobile OS) or a great variety of other applications which have the ability to send information to your Evernote account, you can end up with a big number of useful or temporary notes. Besides the ability to keep them in order by assigning them to notebooks or tags, there are great search options too. You can search your items by using attribute values from the sidebar menu, or even construct a query string and save your search for later.
Also, there is the ability to create to-do items, just by clicking on the to-do checkbox toolbar button, or convert already entered lines of text to to-do items. This gives you the powerful ability to create tasks anywhere in your notes, which can be found later by using search filters, and check off when done. And we shouldn’t forget the great image recognition functionality, which can translate any photo of text to actual, editable text!
