Blog updates and news.
This is an update fixing some minor but important bugs:
- Masterlist elements are now sorted
- Fixed no-context and no-project lists error: No contexts/projects yet.
- Fixed no-context and no-project lists to display only tasks
- Fixed shortcut keys problem (c and p) on search and other text boxes

- Fixed grayed out projects in sidebar which previously defined as private
- The New Action popup now behaves differently when it’s called from within a context/project ist.
- Updated polish and german language file.
Thanks everyone who reported those bugs. It would be impossible to track them down by myself!

"I have been on my GTD journey for about 2 years now and I've being trying so many different approaches, some with Outlook add-ins, hand-carved customisation in Outlook, standalone programs, iPad and Mac apps. Nothing ever quite fitted my method of working (supporting IT for many different customers with lots of projects).
For a couple of days now I have been transforming my system over to the Jello approach and liking almost all I've found so far. It just fits the way I want to work. You have covered so many features and ideas that have been missing from other" - Read more testimonials »

Love the sort in Master list view, thanks!
Now my week view of the calendar in Master List does not show today’s tasks. The day view does. The agenda does not, is it supposed to?
Do you get time to sleep?

Hey Dr. Uqbar, thanks for new version, so great that the no project and no context bugs are fixed! Unfortunately in may case the bug with getting the project previously marked as private back to standard blue color, is still present
. But I believe everyone can live with this, it’s not a major issue. Will spend some time to test everything and will come back with bugs and errors if any.

Another small bug – while in Masterlist, the Calendar items show the year 4016 instead of 2008. Why did the program multiplied the current year by 2?
I simply unchecked the respective setting and don’t see the current year, as everybody is aware of what is the year now I guess :).
February 29, 2008 at 12:26 pm
I still have the same issue, when trying to customize the home page it did not work. When I changed it in manage settings, the all day items of the previous day show up in the today widget.
February 29, 2008 at 8:26 pm
Same issue as Mendel described. The today widget displays two meetings I had on Monday, moreover, the program “thinks” that February 29th is Monday (not Friday) and displays this information on today widget.

This tool is a very nice improvemnt to outlook.
To gain maximum profit from this tool I am still in need to move mail items from inbox to project or context folders without assigning categories to it.
March 5, 2008 at 4:08 am
I take no joy in this but have been having the “Today” issue and Calendar issue for the past 2 months. Only yesterdays events and “todays” events up through 3:30pm will show on “Today”.
March 5, 2008 at 4:13 am
Incorrect. That was the issue. With the new version just released it is now as Mendel says. To see todays events I must scroll forward to tomorrow. Sorry for above post.

I have a bug where whenever I go into a folder and then try to click “Home” I get the error:
—-
Line: 2550
Char: 3
Error: The operation failed
Code: 4096
URL: Outlook:inbox
Do you want to continue … etc.
—-
If this doesn’t help and you need different details I’d be happy to reproduce the problem and try to provide more info. Sorry if this bug has already been reported. Is there a bugzilla for this project, or a hosted google code project?
March 8, 2008 at 2:48 am
Sorry, more specifically, I go into a folder linked on the dashboard, like “Inbox” or “Reference”. I don’t mean clicking on outlooks folder tree.

The more I use JD in daily doing, the more the need appears to add comments (short notes) context-orientated to tasks or eMails.
As far as I figured out so far: setting OutookNotes into context or to projetcs does not work in 4b2, right?

@Ken Neff
I don’t know but I can check it out!
Time to sleep? Hmmm….
@Vadim
That’s strange. I ‘m sure I’ve double checked the grayed private projects.
This 4016 year does not happen to me and I cannot find any reason why it happens to you. Hiding the year does solve the problem? What about Febrary? How many days are there in year 4016? I think that’s why your February 29th is Monday. (That’s creepy!)
Awaiting for more issues!
@Mendel
Did you try to reset your settings completely?
@Rogier
Maybe some Outlook rules will help you with that.
@John Sexton
!
But there is still a calendar problem. Still not good for me
@Steven Cummings
As it seems this might be a shortcut problem. Get a backup of your settings (or rename the settings journal entry OR reset settings). Is it still happening?
There is a code project @ google but nobody really uses it. I would be glad to help you. Send me a bug report.
@Snoman
That never worked!
Microsoft prohibits adding categories to note items through code. I cannot see why!
Sorry!

Hi Nicolas,
I just want to say – great job! I first looked at JD sometime last summer and it wasn’t quite sophisticated enough for my use, but I just downloaded the new version yesterday and it is so much improved!
A few things I noticed for your consideration…
1. On the Jello.Dashboard, I love the customizable widgets. I wonder if the layout of the page could be slightly adjusted to allow shorter widgets to slide up and allow view of the widgets below, rather than just expanding the box (vertically) with whitespace (let me know if you don’t understand what I’m talking about)
2. I wish the Inbox widget included the date received. I prefer to have it sort oldest to newest, but right now it sorts with the newest messages at the top.
Thanks! Heather

Dear All, apart from the tiddlywiki document is there any screencast or video-based tutorial to get familiar with Jello Dashboard (e.g see http://www.taglocity.com/Taglocity-B1.html)
March 24, 2008 at 9:50 pm
I love this dashboard. I just have one suggestion:
For the Next Actions widget, it would be great if NA’s could be sorted by due date. I have a repeating NA that happens once every 90 days, and it likes to sit in my top 5 NA list, even though right now it is 67 days away!

hi Dr. Uqbar, i am a dashborad user who come from Taiwan.
I found a small bug in “Jello Dashboard beta 4.2″ when i tried this version. When i set up the Interface Language “Chinese”, it will show up “Chinese simplified”. If you can revise it on next version, it will be better. Thank you very much.

@Heather Floyd
1. I understand perfectly. I have to work on the GUI again, but after taking care of some serious bugs!
2. I wish that too. The received field is restricted from the outlook security model. Maybe I will bypass it someday.
@Hani
There is no tutorials of this kind yet. Sorry about that. I still do not have enough time to create one. But it can be done by a user someday.
@Susan
I want that to. It’s on the next release’s todo!
@chichinliu
Thanks for that. It will be definately fixed next!
@Sergio Caballero
I would be glad to have it!
Thanks a lot!

Dear Nicolas,
I have an expectation on this S/W, i dont’ kwow if it can do it now or not.
My expectaion is to exchange the action items of Jel. between two NBs. But it seems can’t do it.
Recently, I tried another way. I tried to use “Google Calendar” to sync action items between NBs. But it still failed. This made me upset.
This is my expectation.
Thank you.

I love all the new functionality. I struggle with one element of the software. When I assign an email to a context, I can have the email automatically moved to a folder assigned to that context. However, when I go to that context using the bar on the right-hand side, that email does not appear because the context view only shows tasks. Is there a way to change that context view so that it displays both tasks and emails that are stored in that context? I’m guessing it is because tasks can’t be stored in email folders and vice versa.
April 10, 2008 at 8:27 pm
@chichinliu
Please define NB, because I cannot understand what you mean.
@Michael
The email is not appearing into the context view for two reasons.
1.You choose to use only tasks for contexts into the settings page.
2.The folder in which the email resides is not registered into jello (use Accessible outlook folders to add it)
